HDTV Antenna w/ Digital Cable?
I have Comcast Digital Cable with DVR and HDTV. However, I am disappointed that there are only a few HDTV channels I can watch without paying a huge subscription to certain channels. I was wondering if I could buy an indoor HDTV antenna (like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-PHDTV1-Silver-Digital-Antenna/dp/B0007XDI54) and hook it up and get more HDTV channels. Is this true? Would I still get the basic channels (Disney, Nickelodeon, Discovery, ABC Family, etc) or would I only get news channels? Also, would I be able to just attach the antenna into an open port on my TV and just switch back and forth between Comcast and the atenna? Thanks!
A HD antenna will only get you the local broadcast channels, which you are already receiving over your cable subscription. These are things like your local ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, FOX, CW, stations and whatever other local channels you may have.
To get stations like Discovery in HD, you’ll need to upgrade your cable subscription to one of Comcast’s HD packages. You’ll also need to get a new DVR as your current one won’t be able to receive or record those HD channels.
