Digital Cameras Versus The Traditional Camera
The traditional camera was developed many years ago, and although there has been progress regarding the design and style of the cameras, the process of developing pictures has remained relatively unchanged over the years. It did not look as though this was likely to ever change, but the advent of the digital camera has proved that theory incorrect.
Cost Effectiveness of Digital Cameras
When first arrived on the scene, many people were put off by the price of purchasing a digital camera, and preferred to stay with the old traditional camera. However, after paying for developing all the films from the traditional camera, the price of digital camera can be made back several times over.
It took a while, but as the quality of improved, and the prices dropped as the technology matured, it was only a matter of time before sales of traditional cameras took a nose-dive. The fact that you could take as many pictures as you liked using a digital camera for no cost, compared
to the cost of buying film and getting it developed using a digital camera, made it inevitable.
Quality of Digital Cameras
As well as the cost savings, the picture quality of a photograph taken with a digital camera is now far superior to that taken from a traditional camera. Not only is the resolution better, but with the software that is available it is very easy to manipulate the picture. Changing the colours, contrast, and even removing the red-eye from the flash is very easy to do.
Taking Videos with Digital Cameras
Many have the ability to take a short video (30 seconds or so,). And although they are nowhere near as good as a digital camcorder, it’s a nice feature. Of course, the traditional camera doesn’t have any video capability, so the win this one hands down.
While it is a shame to see the traditional camera fall from grace, it is an inevitable outcome, as the technology regarding improves at a fast rate.
